Fueling Up
This helicopter was fueling up at the airport.
Our airport is small, but can get some interesting aircraft.

Brown bear trains us
Just a little more Olympic Game Farm.
I think this guy was our favorite - he was so patient while he trained us...
This bear had been trained to wave. (The animals at the farm are performing animals - some retired - from movies, TV.) It didn't take him very long to train us, either. He only had to wave a couple of times before we threw some (whole grain with nuts) bread to him. You can buy loaves of bread at the gate with your entrance ticket.
This guy has his own enclosure. He's really big.
Whew! What a day!
All that waving can really take it out of you...
There are a lot of different animals there, and it was interesting. We intend to go back again.
The website for Olympic Game Farm is http://www.olygamefarm.com/.

last eclipse until Dec 2010
At least the last lunar eclipse here in North America.
The speck to the left of the moon is Saturn, the clearest it has been seen for a few years I think. With a telescope, you can see the rings. Above the moon is Regulus.
We had clouds and rain earlier today, and we thought we'd miss the eclipse, but it cleared up beautifully before it even started, and the stars were brilliant while the moon was darkened. It did start to mist up after totality, and obscure some of the stars. And it was cold out there for stargazing. But fun. Hoorah for hot chocolate and a nice fire.

Brilliant peacock
We love the way the sun made the colors of the peacock feathers almost flouresce.
We saw this guy at Olympic Game Farm - actually in Sequim, but we were on a day trip - one of many peacocks we saw that day, among a lot of other animals.
At Olympic Game Farm, you stay in the car, and the animals wander around. Most of them. Some have their own "place in the sun."

First Beach High Tide waves
High seas after a storm at First Beach (La Push)
This is high tide - the foreground is the beach when it's low tide.
I'm attempting to start this Forks blog again, being careful not to do damage again.
Comments may be shorter as a result, but I have stored up a lot of new shots of the area.
THANK YOU to all who posted comments and encouragement while I was absent. Your thoughts were appreciated.
