The Forecast is... what?

The forecast for today was for cold but partly sunny.
Our Forks weather usually calls for "liquid sunshine",
but frozen sunshine?
Ah, the surprises and delights of Mother Nature in Forks.
These were taken at the beginning of the snow this morning.
It lasted all of today.
And will go on into tonight.
And tomorrow.
Maybe I'll make a snowman!

It got a little snowy...

First it was a little snowy...

Then there was a little more...

Then there was the wind (this is a mild bit) ...

This is how it looked until the warmer temperatures started today, and the rains started. This is at sunset yesterday.

Our first storm of the season, in what looks to be a tough winter.
The blizzard has gone on to the Midwest now.

Well, it's snowing again

Just a dusting, but it's not done, either.
Winter just isn't giving up yet.
Guess the starts stay in the kitchen window for a bit yet. [grin]

White Christmas

Since we celebrate Christmas in our house,
We Wish You a Merry Christmas!
Hope your Holidays/Solstice/Kwanzaa/Hanukkah/New Year is all you want it to be.
OTW weather.
We have snow still ... again ... still.
I usually say that about rain here.

Busy birdfeeder before blizzard

The birdfeeder was very busy today, with many different birds.
All getting full before the blizzard arrives.
Very tiny sparrows to very large ravens who were too big to fit on the feeder -
not that they didn't keep trying. They would grab the edge of the ledge, constantly flapping their wings, trying to get to the seeds.
They did clean the seeds off the snow under the feeder.

Snowdrift

Interesting how the wind sculpted the snow around the car. We had cleared the driveway around the cars before the winds arrived.

Blowing wind, drifting snow

The winds in this storm blew all day, creating snow drifts and clearing lawns and roads - in places. Part of our lawn was clear, part was covered in a 2-3 foot drift. There was a drift along both sides of the cars that was almost as tall as the car - as you can see here, also in between the cars. The drift also covers several bushes. This picture was taken while a mild wind was blowing. The gusts created blizzard-like viewing, white pictures. We chose not to leave the house very much.

Before the wind...

..there was snow that had covered everything. (This was early in the storm.) By the time the winds had blown through, this bench was clear again. I'll post more pictures the next few days.

It's bloomin' cold...

This is really a picture of some of our pansies.

We have snow!

Snowfall and the bird feeder.
We made sure to fill it before the storm hit. It is supposed to be VERY cold the next few days.

The RAIN Capital???

I left the date
on these pictures
so as to have
proof of when I took them.
This is definitely
unseasonable
weather for Forks.
We're supposed to
be the RAIN capital,
and April showers
are supposed to be RAIN.

The snow is still coming down as I type this. We've gotten more than two inches already, and it keeps coming.

According to the weather
forecast, we'll get up to an inch
of snow. Oops.

We're certainly glad we
don't need to go anywhere,
and that we have firewood
still.

Our annual Rainfest festival
is next weekend...

Before and during storm

Main Street Holiday Decorations - Friday, when skies were blue, and Saturday morning, at the beginning of our first snow storm of the season. We had gotten several inches by evening, along with hail, and are forecast for about 20 hours straight of rain, giving 6-8 inches of rain on top of the snow melting. The rivers are going to be running deep. "IIIII'm dreaming of a Whiiiiiite Christmas..."
[I refused to put any Christmas decorations up before Dec. 1, either at the house, or on the website. Now that it's December...]
I'm sorry for not posting for a couple of days, and it might be a little sporadic until I get situated enough to not exacerbate my newly-diagnosed carpal tunnel. We think it was doing the website with my laptop actually on my lap in the evening.
