Destruction Island

Destruction Island
from Kalaloch Campground
It almost looks like it's on fire, the sunset is so red this day.
The sunset silhouettes the island and shows the lighthouse at the south (left) end.
The rocks around the island, and between the island and the shore,
are what gave it its descriptive name.

Colorful Sunset

The sky turned very colorful at sunset tonight.
It makes interesting silhouettes of the trees, and creates wonderful contrasts.

Sky Watch Friday - Eastern sunset colors

I know that sounds like I'm a bit daft, but this picture was taken of our eastern view at sunset. The clouds were reflecting so beautifully, you'd think it was sunrise, but it's not. All of the purples and reds didn't quite show up in the photo, either.

Sunset at home

This is a sunset picture I took from our back deck recently. After being gone for a bit, it's nice to see the ordinary daily things that make HOME.
We don't see pretty sunsets from the house very often, too many other houses in the way. This one entertained. I watched instead of taking lots of pictures, almost missed getting any of it. To see a pretty sunset, one can go to the beach most nights.

Thank you to all who commented, and, thank you Mary Helen for missing me. That was nice to hear.

Rialto Beach Sunset View

Our son, Michael, visited us for Thanksgiving, and we all went to Rialto Beach, about 20 minutes west of Forks, and just north of La Push (which is on the Quileute Reservation). This is him atop the beach flotsam watching the sunset. He suggested I use this one for this site. We both like the silhouette look to it.

This is what he was looking at - James Island and sea stacks on the left and sea stacks on the right. James Island is at the mouth of the Quileute River at La Push.
I'll post more pictures from Rialto Beach this week.
