Now THAT'S a beak!

This flicker sat on the fence and posed for my husband for quite a while. Think maybe he's a little proud of that beak? He is cute, and part of what seems to be a family group that come to visit fairly often. The last shot looks as though he's getting a little huffy about it all.
Couldn't resist posting a couple of shots of him, though.

Are those black spots on the feathers, it looks like a bird full of holes. (Made me feel queasy).

I have not seen a flicker here for several years. I don't know why. I like your photos of a flicker. Do you offer them anything special to attract them?

Cyrano de Beak-iac, maybe?

Seems a friendly sort to me.

There are spots on the feathers - that's one of the identifying marks.

We put sunflower seeds in the feeder, but I think it's all of the berries growing around here.

I like Cyrano de-Beak-iac for him.

They are fairly friendly, yes. There's several of them that hang around.
